Big Cave Camp is situated on a two thousand acre private wilderness area which borders the Matobo National Park. Built on top of an enormous granite rock formation, there are superb views into the adjoining Park. History, culture, flora and fauna abound in the Matobo Hills. The game viewing on foot, by 4x4, or on horseback, all accompanied by an expert and knowledgeable guide, is excellent. The chances of seeing black and/or white rhino are particularly good and there is a wide variety of plains game.

The camp, itself, comprises seven thatched, A-framed, granite lodges and a main building containing the Leopard's Lair dining room and bar. There is a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks, an outdoor reading area and a natural rock pool and sundeck. The lodges each have a private bathroom and balcony, ideal for game viewing or just gazing languorously into the misty distance. They are each decorated in their own style, using Ndebele artefacts, with the nearby bushman paintings and ancient Kalanga grain bins, nestled among the rocks, as reference points.

The lodge is only a forty-minute drive from Bulawayo, and arrangements can be made for clients to visit places of interest in this area. The Kame Ruins, the Natural History Museum, the Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage and the Railway Museum are all very popular. Big Cave Camp places the emphasis on personalised service.
